Hi, Rachel--

Ask your recruiter during your interview about what he/she thinks. As harsh as I am about medical clearance, I don't have enough expertise to say whether the process would be a waste of time for you.
All I can offer you is probably the same advice that your recruiter will give, since it's ultimately up to Peace Corps Medical in Washington. If you are really committed to serving in Peace Corps, then go ahead and apply. Even upon medical clearance, the likelihood is that you're going to have to wait longer for a placement simply because PC-Washington will have to match you up with a country that has the medical capacity to support you.
If you are medically cleared and accept a placement, you won't have to worry about your prescriptions because Peace Corps will become fully responsible for your health, and--in theory--it is the best medical coverage you'll ever have.

Hi,

I'm a current PC applicant (I'll be doing my interview soon), and I'm trying to get an idea of whether or not I will qualify medically--I want to avoid wasting a couple of months on more paperwork if I'm eventually going to get rejected. I take about six prescription meds (I have chronic daily migraines). I don't require any kind of regular medical attention and my condition is completely under control, but my concern is that PC may not be able to supply me with my medicine. If you have any insight into the prescription process at PC sites, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
